Approachable, supple, chocolaty.
The story behind this bottle is engaging. The label - a frame you see around SR is the frame of a mirror, which hangs just off the pool room at the Santa Rita Estate near Santiago. The mirror is said to have seen a lot over the years at this historic estate, including me, playing pool.
The wine is a crowd-pleaser, aimed at the trend of sweeter blended red wines. The nose delivers forest berries, oodles of chocolate, bay leaf, and roasted beet aromas. The palate is, as expected, supple with rich mocha flavours. Nice balance here, and less sweet than most of its category counterparts.
Pair: BBQ, game day fare such as burgers, pizza, ribs, chili...
